Field Notes Dong Bell May 19, 1988. "tundra-like" its main stip was, and head region. It circled over the top of Prince Island, along with lots of gulls - and made a couple passes at me. Quite close. It probably circled 6-7 times then struck out for San Miguel Island, w/several agitated gulls in tow. Caught 2 female gulls - 293, 294 May 20, 1988 Slept poorly last night. The wind picked up - rocked the boat an awful lot - causing it to pull on the anchor chain which consequently made a loud "thwack" each time. Dwight caught us some clams or scallops, which we feasted on last night - what a consolation! The boat anchored at a cove Taylor Harbor just across from Prince Island, to the lee of San Miguel. We were up at 06:15. Randy offered to take me to Prince in the cano, but Dave said it would be better to wait - nevertheless after some confusion, I was taken over to Prince Began trapping by about 0830. Captured mate-#295 to bird caught yesterday 294. Also caught another gull & 296. Two more gulls caught 297, 298. We off-loaded from the island by about noon. On The trip back took me along the north side of Santa Rosa Island, south side of Santa Cruz Island, where we circled Gull Island and thence to Returned to Ventura by 17:00. I stopped in at U.C. Anacapa. Santa Barbara to see John Endler & wife Tracy.
