Field Notes Doug Bell May 18, 1988 today is clear, sunny and calm. After trying for the other bird I went back to the house, then down to the boat to see Dave Lewis off. They left about 9:30. I then went back to work gull trapping. Set 3 moose traps out near the lighthouse. Caught a female right away DAB 288. Then set a walk-in trap out west of the houses. Caught a male right away 289. Then went back to the mooses - captured a female off a 3 egg nest 290. Back to the walk-in, caught female 291 (mate of 289). Back to the mooses - caught the male of (290)=292. Reset walk-in trap on a moose site (#5). Will try to pick this bird up tomorrow. Spent most of the afternoon 15:00 - 18:00 preparing these gulls. In the course of the day I saw & heard several Bewick's Wrens, House Finches (?fledged young), Orange-crowned Warblers, one Western Kingbird, Barn Swallows, ~~two~~ White-throated Swift (especially near the lighthouse). May 19, 1988. Was picked up at Anacapa by Dwight Willey, Randy Dave Lewis. The boat headed out to San Miguel Island. Long ride - beautiful day - calm. On way past Santa Cruz Island (south side) saw Red-throated Loons, Northern Phalaropes (in spring plumage), pelicans, gulls of course, pods of Cassins Auklets,
