March 26 - cont
returned to snag (1) & had waited, still on snag (2)
10:30- both falcons still on snag (2)
10:45- & flew off to the east
11:30- & still on snag C- preening
11:38- & took one short flight- circled around in front
of rock then flew up to a snag in shade, still on
snag (2) congregation.
12:38- & still still sitting on snag (2). End of
observations.
Other birds seen/heard during observation: Junco,
Kestrel, Red-tail, Turkey Vulture, Blue Grouse (cooing)
Weather - was sunny; moderate wind; cool.
March 27, 1988
05:00- Up and ready to go to the rock.
Todd Phelps and I had decided to try to climb
in to the potholes which might harbor fresh
eggs. I need to know if the peregrines have
started a clutch yet, or not.
@ 6:30 - We made our way up to the rock- sun
just coming up. Very windy, bitter cold. As
we made our way down from the top of the
rock to the main central shelf area, before the
sheer faces with potholes, we caught occasional
glimpses of both falcons zipping past the
rock face. An occasional falcon "wail" was
heard. We tied the rope off a [tree] and threw
