FIELD NOTES
DOUG BELL
JUNE 12, 1985
LOCATION: PIER 91, BUILDING 48, PORT OF SEATTLE,
SEATTLE, WA.
HABITAT: Port, Industry, Harbor. Port has large
warehouses, upon which gull colonies are located -
(colonies atop (at least) buildings 47, 48, 38. Roof tops
are quite open, have little opportunity for shade, large
open dock and loading areas for cars.
TIME: 14:30 - 15:15
Set trap out over 3-egg clutch atop building 48.
DAB-031-A-B-C
Due to sensitive nature of area, and possibility of
being observed, I did not survey the whole roof top.
But there are maybe 20-30 nests up here. Caught
WDAB-030
a light-primaried bird. Mate same. Looks like about
1/2 of the birds observed here (8 out of 16) have
primary tips slightly darker than mantle. Other half have
tips = mantle blue.
