St. Regis Blind, Port of Tacoma, WA -
9:38 Trapping on rooftop of Pulp Plant. Set
trap out over 3-egg clutch in corner where
one bird is banded and trap
over another 3-egg clutch. The roof
is completely littered with debris that
the gulls have [sic] brought up. Thousands
of bones - mostly chicken. Next to one
nest found rooster head, another had
her 3 week
chicks. This
had a 44 with pigeon back & wing, little bones too.
Gulls on some exposed nests (to sun, etc)
are hyperventilating. Fish food transfer
9:45 caught one bird - it threw up spaghetti
when foot
& garbage.

10:30 - moved thru trap to 3 egg nest.
Another pigeon found.
DAB 028
11:00 - Caught another bird. Threw up chicken wings.
Of 18 birds checked, 15 had primary tips
darker than mantle - the tips are blot
dark - darker in general than the Olympic
birds.
The first pair I found trapping both have
wing tips darker than mantle - the F has then
only slightly darker, the male (which is USFWS
banded) more so.
