FIELD NOTES Doug Bell June 9, 1985 LOCATION: West Bay Drive, old dock & pier next to small island. across from port of Olympia. Olympia, WA. TIME: 14:00 - 15:30 Talked to Steve Speich this morning. Now trapping on old pier again. Set trap over different 3-egg nest from yesterday. After an hour still no luck, moved entrance to trap around. Birds refused to go in. Set second trap over the 1-egg nest. A bird went in almost immediately, but ran out when I rustled. Tried again-same thing. This bird is desperate to get into nest though. Moved entrance of trap around towards my direction. This time it worked - caught the bird - a ♀ (PB 024) - she has an egg in her clutch! Osprey flew over while trapping
