12:20 - Alcatraz I., SF Bay. Weather - clear sunny, wind ↑.
2 pairs of gulls on the cistern are apparently "chickless"
but are going through extensive choking, long calling,
sitting side by side, meowing, courtship feeding.

10:50 : Alcatraz I., S.F. Bay, Calif. Weather - clear, but high
fog over Golden Gate. Sunny, cool in shade. Windy - moderate.
In blind with Maren - view over cistern, industry building
Most chicks about 3-4 weeks old. Some younger, some older.
Behind rock 32 a couple chicks are practicing flying on
the strong wind: flap, bowyed up 1-1½ m, then back
down to the ground. Heavy legging from the chicks.
The two pairs that were seen "in new territories" yesterday
are not there now.
10:58 - Adults doing frequent long calling, 2 pair also meowing.
Combat - one adult of 3 chick nest on close right corner stooped
on a lone adult sitting on cistern. Dropped swiftly on it,
gripping bill, tussel ensued. Finally, the attacked bird got
