I saw an adult fly down away from the nest. Then the flap of a wing, dark primaries from in the nest. The time was now 14:00. We went back to the trap spot, at the confluence of the roads leading down along the cliffs to the harbor. Caught the mate to 108 (DAB 109) off the 3 egg nest. Called Steve Speich on radio (17:00). Back at the trailers we were treated to great views of both adult eagles. They were being hassled harassed by crows. It was fairly windy now, when the eagles turned their heads away from the wind, the feathers would stick up like harpy eagles. Really beautiful birds! Brown-dark body feathers, etched, yellow legs, bills, irises. One bird, the 3, flew over to the ?, sat near her (pictures ?). He yawned a lot, matched ear, yawned some more. Through the late afternoon we were treated to many views of these birds. The nest is not more than 200 ft. from the trails, up in the crotch of a pine that's thinly leaved below, but open above. Still, it's protected from branches & stumps above. Miguel Ball & Mark Opp came by, we talked up a storm. Other birds on island: Allen's Hummer, Am Goldfinches, Wrens, Barn & Violet Green & Tree Swallows, Song Sparrows (4 baby cowbirds in tow!), Pheasant, Starling, Rough-winged Swallows, Brown-headed Cowbird - even saw an inn-begging from Song Sparrow parent. Savannah Sparrows, Meacocks (of course!), Bewicks Wren.
