getting a boat ride to Whitcomb Island in Grays Harbor, WA.
He suggested contacting the owner of Brady's Oysters on the
south bay, just before the Elk River. We went there, he
suggested contacting KEN WORTHINGTON in Westport, WA. This we
did, and he agreed to take us out to the island for $20.00,
would drop us off, then pick us up later. So at 14:00 he
took us out to Whitcomb Island in Grays Harbor. We landed
on the south west corner with his Dory, which was no
problem as the bank was relatively steep here. We landed
at about 1/4 outgoing high tide. He agreed to pick us up
at 18:00. Whitcomb Island is essentially very flat, sandy
bar, with two raised sections, one about in the middle
and another near the SE corner:

& all other areas could be inundated
by tidal action.
We censused about 1/4-1/5 of the areas containing nesting
gulls on the island. This censusing was done in the
major colony at the raised area of the island (A).
