11:26 am - Still at Buckland rocks. 4 young peregrines at same spot. One adult bird w/full crop seen flying off, power stroking up the creek canyon (headed west).
Of the 4 young, 2 appear to be S (including the small runt) and 2 q. Todd said the falcon had 5 young though. The runt S has down over its whole shoulders and wing coverts.
11:34 am - Of the 4 young, the one on top of rock, and one sitting in the pothole, are laying down flat as pancakes. The one on the pinnacle next to pothole is cleaning, preening itself. These other 3 young have their tails wings full in. Still look uncoordinated in their movements though.
11:41 - All young falcons lying down. There is a house to the left of the cliffs, not more than [illegible] 150 yards away, but it is sort of out of view from the cliffs themselves. One can hear roosters crowing, electric motors drilling, etc etc.
Bird on top of rock is dropping wings, preening neck, thought. Has rich chocolate-brown back, tail (~bars), head. This makes strip, cream throat, golden-brown breast. Absolutely beautiful. Also has a touch of light golden streaking on rump & supercilium - [illegible] legs a foot have slight yellowish tinge.
11:34 - The young falcon on top of cliff ran, hobbled sniped around, first to the cliff edge, then back about 10 yars to some shady chaparral manzanita, oak tangle. Out of view.
