Field Notes Doug Bell 6/4/86 June 4, 1986: Morning, packing up and leaving Pam & Todds' house at the ranch. 10:00am- @ Goat Rock, mostly sunny, fog breaking on surrounding ridge, SE wind. Goat Rock is bathed in sun. Hear quail, meadowlarks, lazuli buntings, young red-tail hawks begging. No sign of any perquaries on the rock. On road down from ranch saw 2 seperate Blue Grouse, one flew from road down 70 yds to trees, another we saw eating spruce buds in tree. 11:05am- at Cliffs on road sw. Buciland/Redway. Heard young peregrine screaming. Looked about 1 min, saw one inm by first sitting, then lying on top of cliff face. Then saw 2 more young sitting in pothole, finally 1 more on small oak pinnacle next to pot hole. So total of 4 young visible, 3 in pothole, 1 on top of cliff. 3 of the young look like they could fly, one seems to be still younger and has shot tail some down on head.
