Behle 1933. Mad River ford, 2700 ft. above Ruth, Trinity Co. Calif. May 24. the Canadian zone and that almost entirely covered with snow so the typical animals are not present. Only junce is were there. These incidentally were found from the river to the summit. The depth of snow at the site was to my astonishing and surely will remain till mid July in places. The drainage on the Mad River side is very steep practically all the way. Three deer, presumably the same three were seen on our return trip. From a collecting standpoint the trip was a total loss but it served to get a knowledge of zonation, the vegetation and stage of spring development. The one fresh gopher workings was found at 5200 ft. near the spring. Fresh and old cyote feces were found in the trail up to 4800 ft. From different piles were fresh.
