Directly north the Salmon Trinity Alps were heavily covered with snow and far off Mt. Shasta loomed up white and high. To the east the Mt Lassen was white with snow as well as another tall cone to the north of it. The Yolla Bolly region was well covered with snow banks. This region was to the southeast. At the southwest Tassie Mountain and Mule ridge showed much snow. The snow along South Fork mount- ain and Horse Ridge extended several miles in an easterly direction.
