Behle 1933 mad river ford, 2700 ft., above arch, Trinity co. calif. May 23. 150 ft. high. It departed but soon returned and was watched thru the glasses. It was a Sparrow Hawk and when shot by Gilmore had the remains of a black-throated gray warbler in its mouth. This is the second Sparrow Hawk seen and taken in this locality. At other time five Western Kingbirds were noticed by Dr Grinnell in a flock in the top of a dead tree 150 ft. above ground east of camp. This morning at 7:00 A.M. while starting out for the morning several Jack Rabbits were noted in the distance. Closer approach showed they were six cavorting around in a gregarious social manner. They scattered in all directions and eluded our efforts to obtain one. A number of bats were flying about this evening Gilmore and Dr Grinnell both obtaining specimens. May 24. After breakfast went over Gilmore's trap line with him and at 9:00 A.M. started the
