April 29, 1937 Testes OO May 10, 1937 acc. 5242 A lot of 25 cowbirds, Molothrus ater, brought in by W.B. Davis were obtained May 9, from the pheasant pens of A.C. Darby in Oroville, Butte County, California. The pens were constructed of 1 inch wire mesh and the cowbirds were able to squeeze through the holes and get in to the grain but then couldn't get out. Hundreds have been caught and killed inside the pens.
