Behle 1933 Mad River ford, 2700 ft., above Ruth, Trinity co. Calif. May 22 had occupied the territory. This & shot and it will be interesting to see if this territory is appropriated by still a third Calliope Humming bird. One & Rufous Humming bird was seen this morning in a manzanita bush. These bushes being in bloom form an attraction for Humming birds. Feeding out in other grassy places were seen Robins, Jays, Chipping Sparrows often associated with one another. One Western Bluebird was surprised from her nest in a woodpecker hole in a dead cottonwood tree. This hole was about 15 ft. above the ground. The ? was taken and later the ? put the eggs if any have not yet been obtained. The monterey Vermit Thrush nest found on May 19 had one egg at 10:00 A.M. The following morning Dr Shinnell visited it and there was still one egg. The nest was not visited on the 21st but this morning had three eggs laid.
