Behle 1934 245 Sas Vegas to Fallon Sept. 29, 1934. No more Horned Larks were seen until we reached 17 mi w of Tonpah. Here along the southside of the road were three pools of rain water that hadn't dried up yet and on the muddy edges were Horned Larks presumbaly feeding on mites on the mud. When shot at the remaining birds would fly far out into the desert waste land possibly alighting in the shade of bushes but usually after a long interval they would be attracted back to the water so we were able to pick off several. Finally around Schurz at dusk borders of town we came across flocks and shot several. These seemed to be feeding in the cleared strip on either side of the road. As we passed Walker Lake there were thousands of Mudhens, ducks, a few loons and gulls noted. 10 mi South of Fallon. 4000 ft. Churchill co, Nevada Sept. 30, 1934. Stayed at Fallon putting up Horned Larks all evening at 6:00 P.M. drove south 10 miles looking for Horned Larks. These we found in great abundance south of the last ranch house
