Behle 1934. 227 9 mi NE. Wells, 6000 ft., Elko Co., Nevada. Sept 15, 1934 Left Wells on the U.S. Highway 93 Toward Twin Falls. Drove about 10 miles N.E. of wells to a thick stand of Junipers and Pinons Hunted here all morning. There were lots of Chukadees around, a flock of 150+ Onion Jays flew overhead passing out of sight but apparently soon returned and alighted near me in some Onion Pines. I worked over that way seeing several in the tree tops apparently getting at the cones. Then one came flying overhead and in two or larger groups the flock moved on calling hoarsely as they departed. In addition to the lark but these were seen or heard, magpies, Sparrow Hawk, Flicker, Raven, Hairy Woodpecker Sept 16, 1934. I started out on same route driving to 3.5 miles from the Idaho border. The Junipers ceased soon after the place where we collected yesterday. From then on it was sage and rabbit-brush vegetation till we came to the Salmon River.
