Behle 1934. 221 Martin Cr. R.S., 7000 ft., Santa Rosa Mts. Humboldt Co, Nevada. Sept. 7, 1934 Hawk flying overhead. Saw remains of a Green-Tailed Towhee which doubtless furnished a meal for a hawk. Sept. 8; 1934 Downstream today. Much same habitats. Also visited next canyon West finding same conditions minus the water. Noticed seven Flickers foraging over the surface of a rocky projection; were very actively moving about as if after some insects. Sept. 9 - 1934. Same routine. It gets light about 5:00. Is cold until sun takes an area. Little activity manifest in bottom of canyon until sun warms things up. Overhead today were soaring two Ravens and one Turkey Vulture. Two deer seen. Magpies numerous. There is a game refuge on the south side of the divide. In this several Sagehens were seen as we drove up. Our camp is a typical public forest service camp with piped water, tables and stoves.
