Behle 1934. 220 martin cr. R.S., 7000 ft, Santa Rosa mts. Humbold co, Nevada Sept. 5/1934 the way met the ranger, Mr Travis. Established camp at the Martin Creek Ranger Station. This is located about 17 1/2 miles by road from Pleasant Valley and 1 1/2 miles down on the N side of the summit. Altitude 7000? The country around is mostly covered with sagebrush on the slopes but down in the bottoms of the canyons grow cottonwoods and willows. There are a few scattered groves of Mt. Magnolia trees near the tops of ridges. The aspens on some slopes, together with some manzanta form a sort of chaparral. Sept. 6-, 1934 Worked north from camp. Most birds found in the dense aspens and willows in the bottom of the canyons. Vesper Sparrows frequent sagebrush areas In addition to birds shot, saw Western Robin, Red-shafted Flicker. Sept 7-1934.
