Behle 1934 17 mi. N.W. Reno, 6000 ft. Washoe Co., Nevada. Sept. 4 Alighted near me in a juniper tree- A Swainson Hawk seen soaring in the distance. Worked back and forth along the slope without seeing any birds. About 10:30 A.M. shot a Plain- titmouse. Was making a lot of noise and flying actively about. Its mate was evidently around. I heard it but never saw it. Jack rabbits and cottontails seemed very abundant high on the slopes where they were apparently resting in the shade of the junipers. Many coyote turds were seen all old but all containing broken bones of small rodents. Returned to Reno, had lunch there, skinned birds in the afternoon and evening. Dr. Hinsdale had better luck on the opposite slope obtaining two Spotted Towhees and several Titmouses. It is possible the birds frequent this slope more. I suspect the steeper + rocky slope I was on caused me to scare the birds away. Sept. 5. Drove on to Winnemucca then out to Pleasant Valley and finally on to the Santa Rosa Mountains to the north. On
