of the year, that is of the Ⓒ sex, lack the
yellow white birds that are adult in
their annual molt have the yellow
present. Such is probably the case
here again although upon casual
examination I didn't see any as
yet unmolted old feathers to prove
that the yellow possessors were old
males.
The skulls of all showed a
double wall. One would hardly
expect much age diagnosis from
this character since if they nest as
early as Feb. and April the young
are already several months old.
The lot of these birds are practically
complete as to their molt.
The first few birds I was able to
shoot with 4:10's but then the birds became
more wary. While feeding in flocks upon
any approach some would strain their necks
watching me and when one would flyas
a rule they all would. On a few
occasions several individuals would remain
a little longer and then fly.
The characteristic notes were in
evidence only when the birds were in flight.
