Plush, Warner Valley, Lake Co., Oregon Aug. 25 Cleared up during the night. Out up a few more birds this morning then drove over to a patch of willows. The willows are abundant in the valley floor along where streams used to be and where they still are I imagine in the spring. In one place in three trees nests were seen from a distance clustered close together, probably magpie nests but possibly old old heron nests. Wandering thru these willows near a farm house I found a colony of English Sparrows where Robe menas was abundant 20+ crows, one Willin Downy Woodpecker, dozens of quail and Doves. I have seldom seen so many quail in one location. And doves are most abundant. Coming into the valley a couple of days ago I counted 89 on a fence. A rember said there were frequently 100 or more near the road around his house. Several Black-billed Magpies were seen. Last evening saw one Por will and many swallows flying about in the evening.
