1934-
Klamath Pass, Siskiyou co., California
August 20
shot the two, we retraced our route
back into California. After searching
two hours along the flanks of the
Klamath pass ranch we gave it up.
The birds previously seen that
we thought might have been Larks
proved to be Vesper Sparrows.
Next we pushed on to Lakeview
via Dairy, Bly etc. all along the way
as usual I've stopped and walked
over to find through likely looking
places. Finally about 6:00 P.M. as
we were within sight of Lakeview
we saw some of the long sought
birds in an open space beside the
road. Some were feeding, some
were still remaining in the shade.
I shot 15 birds in the next half
hour. We then drove to Town, rented
a cabin at the auto camp.
August 21
Lakeview, Lake Co., Oregon.
spent most of the day putting up
the birds taken last evening. All but
two juvenals were made into skins.
Weights were taken last evening
about two hours after the birds
were killed.
