I see so many types of localities civilization has undoubtedly altered conditions considerably My disappointment is been at not being able to get some specimens from here but I feel I have made every effort. Drove back to Klamath Falls and on to Olene. No camping places being seen we asked permission to sleep on a farmer's property. made camp in the dark and once again mosquitoes ate us up. Olene, Klamath Co., Oregon August 20. Thought of driving down to Merrill but the farmer tells me that area is fortified and highly cultivated with little or no open country. The "Oklahoma Country" southwest of Merrill is sagebrush he said. The proximity to the Lower Klamath Bird Refuge and an active game warden there made me decide against this since I have no Oregon collecting permits or hunting license. Figuring that there must be more Horned Jacks in the Klamath Pass region where we
