Great Salt Lake, Egg Island, Utah

inclined to believe that none of the young birds produced this year could yet fly. If this were true the number of young the colony produced this year would be only about twenty five.
The number Treganza/teron seemed to have diminished too. walking around the island I found only ten nests that showed evidence of having been used. Only one 3/4 grown heron was found and that was banded with band No.34 618201 all others had flown before we landed.
The number gulls on the island I judged to be 15-00. Everywhere were cherry stones which substantiates the claims of farmers in Davis Co. that they are detrimental to the cherry orchards. All young gulls seen were in juvenile plumage. As we approached White Rock five cormorants were seen resting on the rocks but only about 500 gulls nested there.
The return trip was uninteresting from an ornithological point of view
