West Salt Lake airport, Salt Lake Co., Utah /31. June 16 several stomachs In an area near the beginning of the associated-gun clubs road several ?? were heard singing presumably proclaiming their territories a ? was shot and near by a ? was noticed which was approached. It flew in an easterly direction some 50 yards. again when approached it flew in another direction 75 yards. again when approached it flew about the same distance in another direction. It seemed to have a territory with definite bounds beyond which it would not fly. It would usually land in a greewood bush at the edge of the boundary. When this bird's mate was shot and then it was approached the first excitement made it fly several hundred yards away. I remember that at the time another ? immediately appeared and chased the intruder back to its own territory. After following this ? around its territory several minutes it was shot.
