Behle 1933. Coyote Peak, 3000 ft. Humboldt co., Calif. June 14. 83 bottas. chipping sparrows were gathered in groups of 3 or 4 around the ship canal and here too were noted western tait sparrows. The latter were also found at the edge of timber in gary oaks. Meadow larks are numerous over the grasslands. Two Brewer Blackbirds flew by. One Red-shafted Flicker was noted in an isolated clump of gary oaks. Two deer were grazing along side the road but dashed off into the forest. Tanagers are continually heard in the timber but seldom seen. 165 ♀ Western Tanager 32.2g.
