Behle 1933- Coyote Peak, 3000ft. Humboldt co. Calif. June 13- This afternoon 4 gopher sets (8 traps) beat 1 one & Thomomys bottae and 2 one & Thomomys bottae. The burrows of these two ran within 50 yards of each other on the top of the ridge in rich soft rock-free soil. The burrows were large enough to admit the entire hand. Another microtus nest was found in the midst of a dead dry clump of scirpus. The mother was evidently taken yesterday. The 3 young, eyes not yet open, were not saved. June 14. 50 traps (40 mouse + 10 rat) set in timber down to bottom of ravine beat this morning 1 & im. B.m. rubidus in dry place under log at bottom of ravine; 2 Loxe trowbridgi from beside small log - among damp litter of leaves & pine needles. 13 mouse traps set in scirpus beat one ad & Microtus californicus 5 gopher sets (10 traps) beat 1 1ad Thomomys bottae; 2 & ad Thomomys bottae 3 1ad Thomomys
