Behle 1933. Coyote Peak, 3000 ft. Humboldt Co. Calif. June 12. mole workings were observed up to the summit and remains of two skunks were found put out laid out as poison bait for a killer coyote that has been preying upon lambs from the Fyoh ranch. They have sent for a government trapper with his dogs since their own efforts to trap or poison it have been unsuccessful. On the summit a western yellow- bellied racer was taken and lower down in a ravine a sceloporus graciosus lizard seen. We then journeyed down to Tomlinsons about 4 mi. SW of Coyote Peak caught a gopher snake in road & shot a California Jay. For details of interview with Mrs Tomlinson see Dr Grinnells notebook. The hired man said there was 3 ft. of snow on the level last winter and drifts blocked the road for 6 weeks. He mentioned a herd of elk near the Redwood Highway that
