Coyote oak, 3000 ft. Humboldt co. calif. 75 June 12 her shining at the place when taken was misty, damp and shaded. (2) ad 4 Peromyscus maniculatus gambelii rubidus Taken in Microtus runway among grass. Perm. rubidus (3) im. 4, from open space between clumps of marsh grass but shaded + damp. Perm. rubidus (4) ad 5, from Microtus runway in dark damp midst of clump of scirpus. (5) ad 4 Microtus californicus from run way in open; (6) ad. 5 Microtus californicus from covered runway; (7) ad 4 Microtus californi- cus from exposed or fairly open runway along ground; (8) ad. 4 Microtus californicus from junction of three runways in center of clump of scirpus. 5 inches away was a nest 6" long + 4 1/2 " wide, a rounded pile of dry grass + shredded grass blades containing 5 young Microtus.
