June 11-
(3) ad & Thomomys bottae taken 20 yards from the second & This ? was nursing apparently judging from the appearance of the teats. Three gophers were taken from this pocket all relatively close together and at an altitude of 2900 ft.; (4) ad & Thomomys bottae taken from south side prairie on hillside at 3000 ft. 4 sets then yielded 4 gophers.
June 12-
4 gopher sets (8 traps) put out yesterday but this morning (1) ad. Thomomys bottae ? from set on NW slope (approximately 2900 ft.) of open prairie; (2) ad. & Thomomys bottae from same pocket I mentioned yesterday. [ In this pocket area where the soil is rich and black and soft & damp 3 &'s and 1 & have been taken in an area of 75 sq. yards. ]
20 mouse traps set last night in patches of scirpus in swampy areas at seepage places but this morning (1) ad. Sorex vagrans from open place within clumps of swamp grass. [ I heard trap go off, rushed to the spot & found it caught by the tail. This was at 6:46 P.M. broad daylight and
