Behle. 1933. Coyote Peak 3000 ft. Humboldt Co. Calif. 64 June 7- from Hydraulic mining operations up the river at Weitchpec an Indian said the salmon ran regularly up the river in spite of the dirt loaded water only they could not see to spear them. We crossed the Klamath River at Martin's Ferry and proceeded up to the top of the ridge. This is our "yolla Bolly to the sea" ridge. The forest is very impressive being of Douglas Spruce and Tanbark Oak essentially with other trees scattered about such as madrone, maples, Garry Oak etc. The Spruces attain huge size & have an orange or salmon colored center. The floor vegetation is dense here as in other parts of the coast. Frog belt lichens are conspicuous hanging in wisp-like clumps from trees. One is impressed with this luminous forest produced by these humid conditions. June 8- after driving to locked gate at the old Hooker, then the Store Ranch returned
