nearest water; one & clethriomerys from under thicket of Huckleberry oak where there was a dry litter of leaves, small sticks and needles.
The 23 micatus sets failed to bring anything this morning. The 4 Gopher sets best one & Eucnomya monticola at an altitude of 4100 ft.

Broke camp at 11:30 driving down the ridge road to highway thence to the Salyer Ranger Station where information was obtained regarding Hupa Mt. and the road to Hosper Ranch. Drove to Weitchpec via Hospa valley. This valley does not appear to be good Upper Sonoran, it is rather Transi-sition with some Upper Sonoran vegetation. Digger pines were for the most part scattered and few--but one pine stand was noted near the Indian Reservation buildings. At the South Fork of the Trinity River it was noted that the main Trinity River was extremely muddy
