Behle 1933 - Horse Mt. 4700-5000 ft. Humboldt Co. Calif. 65- June 3. been told that the Topographical Survey people had been along here about three weeks ago. The eggs when blown were fresh, + the 3 were saved. In the surrounding locality grouse were continually booming. In the open country from a distance three Citellus douglasii were seen to run toward rocky prominences. One Sciurus griseus was taken from a black oak tree. Chipping Sparrows, Juncos and Robins were the only birds seen and they were quite abundant. One robin nest was found in the lower branch of a Douglas Fir some 4 1/2 ft. above the ground. It contained three eggs. In two instances gopher holes were found with the entrance plugged up with fresh dirt. There was no surface evidence, no mounds to be found anywhere. Search of two shacks did not reveal sign of any bats. posted on a tree at the right hand side of the road beside a gate across the road was tacked a cloth notice,
