38 1931 Dec. 19. Beautiful day. Drove to Boulder Creek. Has bougie and gathered Xmas greens-James took up roots of huckleberry. Dec. 20. Rain all day. Several thousand Robins came into the region near our cottage from up the valley. They fed in the madrone trees and also in Mr. Whitelbeck's newly plowed field. Hundreds thousands were in the roadway as we drove out, flying up from in front of the cars. Only a few saw after we reached the highway. Warm. Rained all the way home. Dec. 21. Rain. Warm. Myrna's friends come to table for food. Dec. 22, 23, 24. Rain. Dec. 25. Rain part of day and all night. Junco's. Golden-or. Sp., Brown-t Sp.Towhees, Song Sp., Fox Sp., Jay; Titmouse came to Table during dinner. Dec. 26. Rained hard all day. Suffering from "base-ball knee" Dec. 31. Has been raining almost continuously since Dec. 20. Snow on the summit of the Sierras about eleven ft. Rainfall in D.F. 16 inches.
