108 Redwood Highway - June 15-19, 1933. Western Yellowthroat - at Clear Lake near the Lodge. Long-tailed Chat - One was singing under my window in early morning at the Lodge, Clear Lake Pileated Warbler - Everywhere along the Redwood Highway. Meadow Lark - everywhere in open fields. Bullock Oriole - one at Clear Lake Lodge Brewer Blackbird - occasional everywhere but nowhere conspicuous. Western Tanager - heard at Wiah and north to thirty Goose on S. Fork Eel River. Black-headed Grosbeak - Everywhere in open woods. Lazuli Bunting - California Purple Finch - Everywhere in redwoods. Larkspurt - Everywhere except in redwood groves. Willow Goldfinch - very abundant at Weymouth and up coast to Del Norte Co. as far as we went. Greenbacked Goldfinch - None at Weymouth or north, esp. at Clear Lake. Redwood Pine Siskin - Common along the Highway. None at Clear Lake. San Francisco Spotted Towhee - Common all way up Redwood Highway. Calif. Brown Towhee - Bryant Marsh Sparrow - heard near Humboldt Bay. Western Lark Sparrow - a pair at Clear Lake Lodge, female carrying nesting materials. Very common all through Lake Co and into Pope Valley. Junco (sierra?) near Laytonville), perhaps south. W. Clipping Sparrow - Common throughout. Nuttall Sparrow (punctatus) first heard at Drywills or Bull Flat (on grassy hillside). Very common from there on as far as we went, Up out of meadow at northern limit. Mourning Song Sparrow - at Weymouth June and north.
