Feb.1 Rain - very heavy at night. 2 Went to San Francisco - Many ducks on bay. Rain - heavy at night - 3 Rain. 4 Audubon Warbler outable again - Cloudy with a light drizzle. 9 Dr. Gremiell brought his class of thirty to watch birds through the window. It was a very cold morning with an icy wind blowing from the east. Birds came continuously for fat, seeds, crumbs. 10 species : quail, Brown and Spotted Towhees, Song, Fox, and Golden- crowned Sparrows, Wrentit, Hermit Thrush and Audubon Warblers. A Blue Jay came into the trees but not to the table. 15 Warmer. Drove through the tunnel. At the eastern end long reptiles hung from the ceiling. Drove to the air port in the afternoon 11 Frost in the morning but warmer in middle of day. 12 Cold wind most of day. 13 Warmer. Many blossoms out : wild currant, almond trees, acacia, cherry plum and ornamental shrubs. White violets in garden. 14 Following birds singing : Song Sparrow, Viggo's Worm Thrasher, Meadow Lark, Wren-Tit Warm in sunshine. 15-28 No rain - East winds frequent. Feb. 25 Pair Duck Tits separate from flock. Mar.1 Warm - Violets, bulbs, fruit trees in bloom. 2,3 Very warm. No frosts needed. 3 Lutescent Warbler singing. 4 Allen Hummingbird in our garden. Still very warm. " " 5 Cooler, cloudy. Lutescent warblers common. 6 Allen Hummingbird heard again. Misty 8 Light rain 9 Rain.
