Darrow, Alaska Journal July 3 0800-0915 - picked up snap-trap lines III A and III B. 0915-1200 - counted insects in Holme's pond edge sample 1300-1430 - counted insects. 1500-1720 Chamberlain and I put out trap lines IV A and IV B. Clouds above - some wind - ground visibility good. The area in which the lines were located was somewhat wet at the northeast. 1800-2030 put out trap line XIII and XIV in Peiper's fertilized area. This area is fairly dry, Peiper had put fertilizer out over a week ago. Adult crane flies in evidence. July 4 0800-0920 - checked trap lines XIII and XIV - no captures. Chamberlain found 1 Lemmus in the other lines. 0945-1106 picked up live traps (at II) and took census walk along gas line. Activity was lower than last week. Long spire and snow burntings were most in evidence. Sun broke out of the clouds during the walk. It was pleasant weather. 1110-1130 picked up live traps (set I). 1300-1715 - counted insects and wrote up notes. 1815-1920 - checked snaptraps. July 5 0800-0930 - checked trap lines IV A, IV B - 1 Lemmus (♂) 0930-1200 - counted insects in Holme's pond edge sample - adults are emerging now. Red-babs (?) that we have taken recently (3rd -) have adults in their stomachs. 1300-1500 - counted insects. 1500-1730 Chamberlain and I went out to set trap lines XI and XII, but found XII to be ankle
