Sullivan, J. 1961 Lemmus trimacronatus (8830) June 13 Captured 1 ♂ Lemmus: 131 1.8 6 52.2g Animal appeared to be in good condition. Saw a dead Lemmus in crouched position that they are supposed to assume before freezing to death. Carcass was old + rotten; Therefore, it was discarded. 2036 another ♂ Lemmus captured in trap adjacent to that with the Lemming this morning. June 17 Set out a new trap line tonight for Lemmus. Lots of runways and droppings were present, no live Lemmus were seen. One badly de- composed specimen was discarded. June 18 Holmer and Bohrback captured a juv. ♂ Lemmus in the Voth Area. I installed it in one of Muller's tray-cages for observation. At capture it weighed 42.2g and was 131 mm in length. The Lemming fell to cleaning itself within 15 minutes after being placed in the cage. It was brought in at 1615. It sat up on its hind legs and rear and doubled over licking and pawing its pelvic region. Sawdust was scattered liberally in the cage, lab chow and litter + a water bottle were added. The animal was observed eating (both litter and lab chow) at 1945. June 20 Captured a ♀ Lemming on the way to Holm's wagon
