Sullivan, 9 1961 Plectrophenax nivalis snow bunting Barrow, Alaska June 9 Common birds around ARLand environ much white, more on 8. The birds have black backs. June 14 Captured a & snow bunting in live trap The 8 remained near calling. I had seen the 8 standing alone among the traps or I approached in the wreckel. The & called upon release and flew wildly to the east. She was joined by the 8, then both birds circling about and flew off to the west together. June 19 Captured a 8 snow-bunting on live trap set II (0830). Bird seemed in good health on release. June 21 The 8 snow bunting sings on the ground as well as on the glides after his flight up. I noticed this on the crevasse walk this morning. July 13 Juvenile snow bunting can now make short flights but are unsure of themselves. They attempt to cling to the sides of wanigan and usually slide off.
