Stercorarius parasiticus - parasitic jaeger
Barrow, Alaska
June 10 June 10, 1961 - south of AKL one bird (light phase)
on ground - walking about - apparently hunting
lemmings - probed about with beak a little.
Flew short distance - 15 yds. Resumed hunt.
Smaller than pomarine.
June 19 Voth area - 2 parasitic.
June 25 A dark phase parasitic was seen loafing
with a long-tailed jaeger.
June 27 2 parasitic and a long-tailed jaeger were in
vicinity of the gas line this morning.
July 6 Chamberlain and I saw a dark and a
dark phase bird past Wohlecklag Slough
Today. They appeared to be loafing. flew
a short way off when we neared.
July 7 Good sized flock of parasitic + l.t. in central
march today 10-14 birds.
