Sullivan. 1962 Barrow, Alaska 12 June (cont.) Stercorarius pomarinus Cries: Eeengh Eeengh - Low Crouch THREATENING ATTITUDES Stretched High A 4th jaeger (possibly paired with no.3) arrived on the scene. There 2 newcomers (I think) threatened the melanistic bird. The other jaeger (of the melanistic pair) looked on. After less than a minute of threat, all 4 took wing. Soon split into pairs - and landed apart. One jaeger returned to the site when the remnining had been eaten. Jaegers also seen at: Beach Ridge (1); central March (1), bottom of B. Ridge toward March (1). 14 June Pomarines commonly seen on the way to Ikbowick today. Some flying over tundra - apparently hunting. Some settling backed up on moorcole. 2100. Nina and I watched 6 pomarines picking at a white elongate object (which turned out to be a stick bone). 22 June Wainwright, Alaska 4 pomarine jaegers seen near Teppliner.
