Sullivan, J. 1961 Erolia Bairdii Bairdi s. June 9 Scaly, dark legs, bill Song: purr purr, often given while hovering in air - wing fluttering. June 13 A bairdii was captured in one of the snap traps in row 1X (08 15) June 15 Inspected a bairdii nest which was pointed out to me by Holmer. Holmer and I watched as the $ tried to distract us. She fanned her tail and let her wings droop a little. Plaintive "peep" were emitted constantly. 4 reddish and brown mottled eggs were in the nest (a depression on the tundra). The nest is located about 3/4 of a mile from the A R H near the beachroad. Before arriving at the Q A C S Bldge there is a "road" leading off to the north toward central marsh. A white post is just west of this road; to the east is a stake. The nest is within 3 ft. of the stake. July 9 Fifth Point, Alaska - a pair of Baird's. were feeding around a marshy area southwest of the station. Shot one of the pair - the other flew near calling.
