Sullivan, 1961 Clangula hyemalis old squaw June 10 On trip north of ARL w/ Holmer toward village of Parme saw 3 old squaw - sitting on water. June 12 By road enroute to central marsh - a pair of o.r. in water by roadside. ♀ olived. After 20 secs ♂ also dived, (♀ still under). At central marsh - another pair in a pocket of water on beach ridge (11 AM). Chamberlain wanted a blood sample - fired and missed just as birch got up and flew off to east. June 13 ♀ in pond just to south of road beyond bridge as you leave ARL area. Bathing + sitting on water. June 16 Family Lagoon: at 1600 this afternoon I saw a ♂ Clangula out on the open water. His head was below the water (loon-like) apparently searching for food. A red phalarope swam fairly near the duck (25 feet). June 19 A flock of 21 old squaw were seen by Holmer and L on Family Lagoon at 1815. The ducks were mostly forcing toward us and gave a very black appearance. June 27 On a small lake between beach and gas line
