Journal Sullivan, J. Barrow, Alaska No capture. June 16 Chamberlain and I brought in snap traps - line I + II, IX + X from 0800-1000. Trapping results reflected the low in the Lemming population: 2 captures (both 0°) in 1836 trap days. More Lemmings have been captured by hand: 7. Worked on species accounts and field notes till lunch time. Worked on Calcaris captured in snap traps this afternoon (see catalog). The weight of the birch ranged from 27.3 to 28.7g. Brood patches were in evidence and egg laying had begun. 1530 - 1720 went to Voth area in weasel checking on trap line condition. Lines IV A + IV B were under water; lines III A + III B were fairly dry. Tomorrow these lines will be set. A 0° snow beating was in live trap. It flew off upon release. Rohrback, the Entomologist from San Diego State arrived today. June 17 Checked live traps from 0800 - 0910 this morning; once again - no capture. A snowy owl (0°) flew past from Family Lagoon area in the direction of Beach ridge. Read Armstrong the rest of the morning.
