Sullivan, J. 1961 Bavia stellata June 19 Vith Area 1845 - a loon flew over going toward Barrow Village. Species not certain. June 20 Two red-throated loons were on Lake Skroavik today. As I neared the lake in a weasel, one of the loons flew up, the other dived. The one in the air flew near and then circled the lake. June 24 Holmer spotted a nest by a tundra pool between Wkpih and Wolihelag Slough. It was constructed right next to the water. The sides were of mud and sedge and slightly elevated (1in-1½in). Two olive colored eggs were in the nest. The loon had flown off as we neared in the weasel. A slide (6-8in. long) had been constructed between nest and water. June 27 2 loons dead outside lab. "Collectors" were looking for parasites (one was a ♂ red-throat). The other a ♀ arctic. Three birds had been caught in a gill net set for fish in Lake Skroavik. July 14 Pitt Point, Alaska - a ♀ red-throated loon often togethur fishing or flying.
