52 Journal Sullivan, J. Barrow, Alaska 1962 missed twice - then lost to eight. 11 August Barrow, Alaska checked II, VI, VII + VIII. Took joint samples at Fertilizer Plot and Voth area today. While south of Wolkicklay Slough - in clear machine - one can look back at Barrow - under heavy fog. and see the planes circling in efforts to land. III A, B and IV A, B pulled in this evening. 12 August Barrow, Alaska continued point sampling at Fertilizer Plot this morning. checked: II, IV, VII, VIII and Line Traps. Finished pl. samples at Voth Area this afternoon. Line sucked again this evening. 13 August Barrow, Alaska checked lines this morning. Took pl. sample at Fertilizer Plot. Niner and Stevens at Lake Petter - so got Pipers to help pull in II, IV, III + VIII. Checked lines XI + XII today (Rick Ashley came along to pursue insects). Trap lines extremely wet. I was wearing hip boots - and recooled them. Water was 9 inches deep at the point of line XI. Parts of XII were fairly dry - but decided against a re-check of these lines. Greater part was under 1-2" of water.
