Sullivan J. Wainwright → Barrow, Alaska
6 August (cont) assistant arrived in 04 E. Oil collected with
a sweep net for about 30 minutes.
Passed over from 1-2,000 caribou
on the way to Barrow. Also: 7 snowy owls,
3 jaegers (qr?), hundred of glaucous gulls, 3
walrus on the beach (dead-gull feeding
on them). ±6 dead seals on the beach.

Traffic was in the Barrow area: Wien Alaska
F-27 and a Beechcraft — both of these

back to Fairbanks. Murphy followed the
coast line at about 25 feet — and set
us down nicely on the runway — which
had been just visible from the coast.
Set out lines I and II this afternoon,
lines IX and X after supper.

Marsh — Because of trampling effect
of Lemming Trappers. Tundra worn
down along these lines, and water
