Sullivan, J.
1962 Barrow, Alaska
26 July (out) over the Tundra; difficulties have been reduced
to: (1) Difficult to turn, (2) Overheat, (3) Burn oil,
(4) Fills rear part of vessel with smoke where
passengers sit, (5) windshield still badly cracked,
one steers through part of a wire screen mesh.
At Fertilizer plot, Schultz and I talked
about point sampling here. Ought to have:
2 exclosures in the fertilized area - 1 outside.
One in the plot area - in mipped vegetation,
one in Dryopteris.
This afternoon graphed heights of vegetation
from point samples.
27 July Barrow, Alaska
Rain + fog today. Checked lines this morning,
and worked on pt. sample data. Schultz
and I will meet today or tomorrow to discuss
the data. Stevens and I - to Fertilizer plot
this evening to pull in lines XIII and XIV, while
Hiner checks XI and XII. To Wien plane today (fog).
28 July Barrow, Alaska
Checked XI + XII this morning. Sat together
with Schultz on the pt sampling data. I had
graphed the highest point of the vegetation at
which a pin had hit (inside and outside
the exclosures). Schultz recommended graphing:
(1) green hits, (2) dead hits, and (3) making a table
of green hits according to species.
